Playlists?

Postby Martin » Tue Jan 12, 2010 11:21 pm

I keep hearing requests to support playlists. Sounds reasonable to me, but there are lots of different things that you could call a playlist. I am thinking of having the ability to create a local playlist just like you do with media center music files, and it will play through them all in order. Is that what other people want, or something else?

This is ok for me. I would like something like browsing songs for different artists, adding them to the playlist, and finally, play the list.
I think is the same you say.
Thanks!

Hi Martin

Love your plugin.
There is playlist feature in spotify today, is there a possibility you can use the same in SpotifyMCE?
Can you present the artist biography in spotifyMCE?

I know there is a playlist feature in the Spotify PC application, but does that playlist go anywhere? Is it accessible from a web site somewhere? I need a web api to be able to read the playlist, and I am not aware of one.

I'd love to present the artist biography. Spotify don't expose it to us in their apis though, presumably because they pay top dollar for it from allmusic.com and don't have the rights to redistribute it. If you know of any legal public service to get biography information, I am definitely interested.

Thanks

Hi Martin
Sorry about the spotify playlist.
I think a playlist like the standard mce type would be as good for everyone.
Regarding biography there is an application named mcShoutCast that has artistinfo but i dont know where he gets it.
Check it out:

For me I mean that I create a playlist in spotify and I can select it in SpotifyMCE. So put on spotifymce, click playlists, browse to a playlist and press it. Starts playing. I can turn TV off and leave it going, press next track button on remote.

Each playlist you create in spotify has its own web address and can be shared. Not sure if thats any help. A website that has loads below.

Thanks for the feedback. I am aware of the spotifyplaylists.co.uk site, but I don't know how you distinguish your playlists from the millions of others. How would you like the playlists to be used?

Thanks

For everyone who wanted playlists, download version 1.4.0. It adds the ability to create playlists of spotify tracks. When you find an album it will open up the list of tracks and you can add the album to a playlist, or just play it straight away. If you click on a track, you again get the option to add it to the playlist or play immediatly (i.e. I tried to make it just like Windows 7 Music playing).

You can see your current playlist by going to Now Playing on the first page, or by clicking on the album image that appears on the album screen.
