Install issue

Hi,
I am no stranger to TunerFree MCE and have used it in Vista and W7 x64. Recently I had to reinstall with W7 x32 due to driver issues causing all kinds of problems with system stability and I decided to install TunerFree.

Initial installation went OK and I could see all the channels and the database was updated. I attempted to play a BBC1 program and was told I needed to install Flash player, which I did and then I could see the program "Hurray".

Since the PC has been restarted I now get a Nullpointer exception and there are no database files in the TunerFreeMCE directory.

The system has .NET 3.5.1 with service pack so I know thats up to date. I have no firewall in the way so that should be OK.

I have attempted to run the Cache builder app and it stops at just over 1000 records for BBC Radio. (First search done)

If I go into TunerFree in Media Centre and select any channel I get an output Error:

System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
at TunerFreeMCE.EnormoList.<>c_DisplayClassf.<setData>b_7(TVProgram pInner)
at System.Collections.Generic.List`1.RemoveAll(Predicate`1 match)
at TunerFreeMCE.EnormoList.setData(Object codeObj, String type)

I click the OK button and nothing.

I have also installed on my laptop W7 x86 and it has run the first time and I also saw an error flash up in the background.

I will do some more investigation.

Also if you have any way I can completely remove TFMCE then I can attempt to do a clean install.

Hi Marc,

try the file C:\ProgramData\Milliesoft\TunerFreeMCE\programList.dat and then re-build the cache and try again.

Hi Martin,
I deleted all the files in the Program Data/Milliesoft/TunerFree MCE then reinstalled TunerFreeMCE and ran the Cache builder and bingo it all works.

Thanks for the advice I will remember this in case of any problems next time.

Have a very similar issue. Get the same null error object. There is no .dat file in the directory however. Whenever i run the cachebuilder Windows kills it before it completes on just BBC radio. Any thoughts? Tunefreeservices is perhaps an issue as it seems to be the file preventing me setting the tunerfreeMCE folder to read/write permissions.

Phil,

if you think there is no .dat file, you are looking in the wrong directory. C:\ProgramData is a hidden directory, so you need to type it in to explorer to navigate to it. I imagine you navigated to the non-hidden C:\Program Files instead.
