I don't think you are quite understanding me. Here is an example of the sort of thing I would expect you to be sending;

I open Songler
I type Madness in to the search box
I press the arrow key once to move right to the artist search button and press OK on the remote
I get an error.

Please tell me what you are doing in similar detail.
