I have been using the older version 1 for some time and recently when I tried to use it I was informed that an upgrade was available. I selected the option to upgrade, accepted the UAC prompt but nothing seemed to happen. When I went back into MCELoveFilm, I was still on version 1 and was again prompted to upgrade to 2.
I closed MCE, and manually downloaded and attempted to install version 2, the installer got as far as copying the files, then it rolled back the installation and quitted simply saying that an error had occurred. I uninstalled version 1, rebooted and tried again with the same result - oddly enough I was also unable to re-install version 1 which I had been using for some time - it gave the same error message.
I am running W7 64 bit and I have in the past used Media Center Studio to rename the MIllimore strip to On Demand and had added a few extra things to it. Thinking that this might be the problem, I re-installed the slightly newer version of TunerFree, which re-created the strip and then tried MCELoveFilm - same failure.
So far I have tried the following :
Successfully installed MCELovefilm onto a different PC, and copied the MCELoveFilm folder from c:\program files (x86)\Millemore onto the problematic machine. I then tried to manually register the app. This failed with an 'Access Denied' error even though I was running it from an elevated command prompt.
I edited the registration.xml file to change the reference to the Millimore strip to my On Demand strip and tried again to register the app. This time it succeeded and MCELovefilm now appears in Media Center. Naturally it doesn't run as I presume more things need to be properly copied and/or registered.
So I'm hoping that someone will have any ideas as to what I can do to either a) get it installed correctly using the proper installer, or failing that b) tell me the steps I'll need to do to manually install it by copying components from another machine and registering them. It does look to me to be something of a permissions issue either on a folder or registry key, but I'm not sure where to start looking.
Many thanks in advance for any help or suggestions
