Spotifymce problem

Postby holst1966 » Wed Jan 06, 2010 9:08 am

Hi
I found a post about your plug-in in a Swedish htpc-forum and downloaded it for a test.

I first want to say that this plug-in is very welcome and I think there is a lot of people that will be pleased when you get it stable enough.
It’s a very good idea to make this work for us that won’t be paying for the premium features of Spotify and I think most people are satisfied with the free version, the commercials is not that annoying.

Now to the problems I have.

I use windows 7 Ultimate 32 and when I start up Spotifymce and get the search bar I can only use my keyboard to type, when I try to use my remote the app crash.

When I found an album that I like I scroll down to a song and press enter or play, the highlight start to scroll down the album by itself and stop at the last song in the list and plays it.

Another problem is that the song duration only shows 0:00 for all songs.

I look forward to the next version.

Hi holst1966,

With the remote control crashing the keyboard, I can't reproduce that issue. Can you enable full error messages in Media Center so that I can see what is going on? To do that, open up regedit and under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Settings\Extensibility add a DWORD key EnableErrorDetails and set the value to "1". Windows Media Center will then add a Details button to the Error dialog box with a stack trace of what's wrong. Take a screenshot of that error message and post it here.

With the tracks skipping, the way that Spotify works is that it only plays one track at a time when a call is made externally. That means that I need to wait the track length and then play the next track. If you have tracks showing up as 0:00 length, it will jump on to the next one straight away. I haven't seen any tracks of 0 length though. Can you tell me what band and album you chose so that I can try to reproduce?

Thanks

Martin

I'm also experiencing problems with track duration. It's 0:00 on every track/album.
But keep up the good work! I have been waiting for an plug-in like this one =)

What country is your computer set to? The Spotify content is different for different countries, so I look at the locale (en_GB in my case) and take the second pair of letters to filter the Spotify content. This is set in your Region and Language settings in windows.

Hi Martin

All my computer setting is Swedish but i just changed the first tab (format) in national settings to English (Great Britain) and now i can see track duration and it works fine to play songs and jump between tracks.
I still cant use my remote in searchfield, then it crasches.

I have reproduced the issue with the keyboard crashing. I have released a fix in version 0.9.1 here.

I'll try in Swedish to see if I can reproduce the track length issue.

Thanks

Hi Martin

I can confirm that the remote works fine in the searchbar with version 0.9.1.
Great, thanks.

And I just found the issue with the track lengths. The spotify feed has a period as the decimal separator, but in Sweden you use a comma, so the parsing of the number failed. I changed it to parse in a fixed format and it all works fine in any language now. Download version 0.9.2 for that fix.

Hi Martin

Firstly, thanks for making a Spotify add-in for Media Center - a really great feature.

I've just started using it and it seems very good to me.

Only glitch I have found is that remote won't enter letters in the search field; only numbers show. I can use the navigation keys to use the on-screen keyboard though, so no big problem. The remote I am using is called: TSBX-2404 in case you wanted to investigate further.

Thanks again.
